Strabismus

Vision Therapy forStrabismus

A diagnosis of strabismus (eye turn) can raise understandable concerns about your child’s visual development, confidence, and long-term learning. Strabismus can impact daily visual comfort, confidence, and how clearly the world comes together. Vision therapy is the non-surgical, evidence-based approach that focuses on improving how the brain and eyes work together, which is an essential part of treating many functional forms of strabismus.

During vision therapy, patients participate in structured, age-appropriate activities designed to improve eye coordination, depth perception, and visual tracking. Research in binocular vision and neuro-visual development shows that the visual system is adaptable, and targeted therapy can help the brain learn to use both eyes together more effectively. The activities are designed to meet patients at their own age and ability and are adapted as needed.

Every vision therapy program is individualized following a comprehensive binocular vision evaluation by Dr. Davis. Dr. Davis may combine other treatments such as specialized lenses, prisms, or, when appropriate, coordination with surgical care, to develop a plan that supports your specific goals. These goals include reducing double vision, improving comfort at work or in school, increased reading skill, or feeling more confident in daily activities
